Maintenance of GORE-TEX clothing
Maintenance of GORE-TEX clothing
Dirt is the biggest enemy of clothing performance.
GORE-TEX clothing should be washed regularly.
By removing dirt, you can use it comfortably for a long time.
We will show you how to wash it, restore its water repellency, and store it.
Benefits of GORE-TEX clothing maintenance
Benefit 1: Prevents seam tape from peeling off, extending product life
Our bodies constantly produce sweat. Sunscreen, antiperspirants, moisturizing creams, and other products can stain the inside of our clothing. Leaving these stains behind can cause seam tape and other adhesives to peel off more easily, and can also reduce the functionality of the waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane.
Washing and keeping your clothing clean will help prevent these problems and allow you to use it comfortably for a long time.
Benefit 2: Water-repellent function restored
The most common cause of a decrease in water repellency is dirt adhering to the surface. This dirt disrupts the water-repellent base that supports water repelling. Dirt can be anything from visible particles to sweat, oil, smoke, and dust and dirt contained in rain. If you think the water-repellent function has decreased, the first thing to do is wash the garment to remove the dirt.
The water-repellent groups in GORE-TEX can be restored to their original alignment by applying heat. After washing, you can restore the water-repellent properties to their original state.
All GORE-TEX garments are treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish. Washing does not significantly reduce the DWR treatment, so washing frequently will help maintain the water repellency.

How to wash your GORE-TEX garment
GORE-TEX clothing can be washed at home.
For dry cleaning, please check the care label
Check the washing instructions
1) Machine washable (low temperature 40°C)
②Do not use bleach. ③Can be tumble dried at low temperature (up to 60℃).
④ Hang dry in the shade ⑤ Can be ironed (maximum bottom temperature 150℃)
⑥ Do not dry clean ⑦ Mild dry cleaning using petroleum-based solvents is possible ⑧ Mild wet cleaning is possible ⑨ Hand washable at a temperature of 40°C or less ⑩ Do not tumble dry (Reference:Consumer Affairs Agency New Care Instructions )
Washing and drying
1) Close all zippers. Open the cuffs as far as possible and loosen the Velcro. Loosen the drawcord as much as possible.
2) Place the garment in a laundry net to prevent it from getting tangled and place it in the washing machine.
3) Add a little less liquid household detergent than the recommended amount (do not use fabric softener, fragrance, or bleach).
4) Rinse thoroughly. Time and plenty of water are key. Residual detergent will reduce the water repellency.
5) After rinsing, drain the water and dry in the shade. Make sure it is completely dry.
Water-repellent restoration <br/>After the garment has dried, place it in a warm air dryer for approximately 20 minutes to restore its water-repellent properties. If using an iron, use a low heat setting, no steam, and iron slowly using a pressing cloth. Avoid areas such as zippers, and make sure to iron only the fabric.
